When a Windows application has more than one way to install it, the choice should be clear rather than mysterious. Algoryn offers a Microsoft Store listing and a standalone installer from the official website. They are two distribution routes for the same product—not different trading editions.
Choose the channel that fits your installation preference
The Microsoft Store listing is the store-based route. Open the listing, confirm that it names Algoryn, and use the Store's install flow. It is a good fit if you prefer to find and install Windows apps through the Store.
The Direct Download is a standalone installer hosted by Algoryn's website. Choose it if you prefer to download the installer file yourself. The website's Download page is the reference for the current direct package and its published release details.
The channels differ in how you obtain and install the app. This article does not assume that either route has a particular signing or security certification, or that one route provides a specific update schedule. Check the current Store listing and Download page for the terms and release information shown there.
Try the demo before connecting a broker
Algoryn 1.0.6 release information describes a separate Demo mode that does not require an IBKR connection. It is intended to let someone look around the product using simulated examples, rather than connect to a brokerage account. The release notes distinguish those examples from broker-connected Paper Trading; option examples are read-only and do not submit option orders.
Demo mode and Paper Trading are not the same thing. Demo is for exploring sample behavior without a broker connection. Paper Trading uses the user's Interactive Brokers paper account and the required TWS or IB Gateway API connection. Market-data availability in a broker-connected workflow depends on the user's own IBKR permissions and subscriptions.
The public Beta is for Paper Trading only. Live Trading is not enabled. Nothing in a Demo screen or sample should be read as an actual order, fill, account balance, or market-data feed.
Check the source and release before installing
Start from Algoryn's official website at algoryntrade.com or the Microsoft Store link above. For the standalone installer, follow the website's Download button instead of searching for a copy on a third-party download site. On the Download page, compare the published version, release date, file size, and SHA-256 value with the file you received. A matching SHA-256 confirms that the file matches the published checksum; it does not, by itself, make a claim about certification or publisher identity.
If you use the Store route, verify that the listing is the Algoryn listing reached through the official link. Keep the channel and version information with your own installation notes, especially when asking for help: “installed from Store” or “direct installer,” plus the version shown by the release information, is more useful than just saying “the app.”
Keep the boundary visible
The point of offering two installation channels is to give Windows users a straightforward choice while keeping the release identity easy to check. Whichever channel you choose, the current public Beta remains a Paper Trading product. Use Demo to explore samples, and connect an IBKR paper account only when you want to use the broker-connected Paper workflow.
